"Basically my wife was immature. I’d be at home in the bath and she’d come in and sink my boats."

--Woody Allen

I guess the lesson might be about knowing when to say good-bye to your toys......
but, wait, the lesson instead may be that we need play in order to balance our lives. Maybe I don't play enough. And that is one reason I have a problem clearing my clutter! Rather than going from chores to dreaded project (or skipping dreaded project altogether after doing chores) I am going to think about going from chore to dreaded project.... to play....then, refreshed, on to another project if necessary.

I think I might have the same problem. Your idea sounds like a good remedy Lydia.

I'm in a real trap with my clutter. The holidays make it worse with bringing out boxes full of decorations. Each Christmas I've pared down some of the decorations and I intend to be less sentimental this year than ever before. Too many boxes!

Clutter can be an emotional drain. I try to weed thinsg out periodically. But it is all about balance - I think its okay to have some things around just because you love them

Yes, the things we love should stay. But when you can't find things you love (or need) because junk is obscuring them, well then that's a problem. Like this morning, my husband was looking everywhere for his muffler and couldn't find it. I find it daunting that there is so much organizing to do, but have been very good lately about throwing one thing out or putting it in the giveaway stack each day. It's freeing.
