Who owns the sun now?
Who has the patent on life?
Who purchased the past?

If you figure out the answers, let us know!

Do not, I repeat do not hold your breath!

Who owns and has purchased these things, I would say God. But we borrow them for our purposes.

Although, a little while back, popular rapper Jay-Z bought and now "owns" the color royal blue (it is now called Jay-Z blue). So, this could be a prime example of the money-obsessed trying to be the person I mentioned in the first sentence.

@Clandestine Samurai- Bingo! I think you expressed the meaning perfectly.

I didn't know that about Jay-Z blue. I wonder if he went through a copyright process or if he just said I own this color!

I hear an angry cry of, "What else do you want!" Do you want to kill us all!"

I also wouldn't say God is subject to patent and hasn't purchased from anyone. So it must be someone else the poem is talking about?

@Ted- You hear that cry, do ya? :)
Hmmmm. I thought of God, but you do make some good points. Too bad it's not clear that God does have the patent on everything here. Maybe that would be something mankind would understand. It's clear that we don't get the blessings of the gifts that have been given to us.
